Glaister Keegan is an agency under the Privacy Act 2020. The Privacy Act governs the management of personal information, defined as information about an identifiable individual. This policy sets out the way in which we do so.
We collect personal information in order to conduct our business, to provide and market our services and to meet our legal obligations, including (but not limited to) in relation to anti-money laundering and similar obligations. This includes personal information about:
• clients, business associates and potential clients and their employees, contractors, owners and directors;
• individuals we deal with in the course of acting for clients and carrying on our business;
• employees and prospective employees; and
• other people who come into contact with Glaister Keegan.
Except as otherwise permitted by law, we will collect personal information directly from you, or indirectly from you (for example internet analytics, social media platforms, and other publicly available websites) or from verified third parties such as anti-money laundering verification agencies.
We take all reasonable steps to protect the security of personal information. As a regulated provider of legal services, Glaister Keegan’s staff are required to respect the confidentiality of personal information and the privacy of individuals. We also have systems in place to protect the security of personal information from unauthorised access, misuse, or other malicious activity.
Your personal information will only be used for a proper purpose and as required by law. In connection with this purpose it may be disclosed to employees of Glaister Keegan, other companies or individuals who assist us in providing services or who perform functions on our behalf such as courts, tribunals and regulatory authorities, and anyone else to whom you authorise us to disclose it.
Where we no longer require your personal information, we will comply with our legal obligations in respect of the secure destruction that information.
We endeavour to ensure that the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up-to-date. You have the right to correct any personal information we hold about you in accordance with the Privacy Act.
